Recap: Tishawanna’s Top 3 in 2023
Tishawanna Harry, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and currently pursuing a Master of Science in Environmental Management at the University of Guyana, contributes significantly to EMC. Her responsibilities span environmental compliance, administration, human resources, and organisational operations. Tishawanna leads Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) at EMC, utilising her extensive training and experience to cultivate a secure work environment.
Reflecting on a transformative year, Tishawanna shared her top three highlights.
- Spearheading Health and Safety: I spearheaded the EMC’s efforts to ensure compliance with Health and Safety standards while supporting implementation of robust measures to foster a secure work environment. As a result, our team was recognised by the Centre for Local Business Development as the most improved HSSE System in the country, underscoring EMC’s commitment to enhancing our organisation’s HSSE culture.
- Professional Development: I gained valuable insights from recertification training in First Aid and a refresher course on customer service and etiquette. These experiences expanded my knowledge and honed my skills, enhancing my effectiveness in the workplace.
- Embracing a New Role: I assumed a pivotal role at EMC as the organisation evolved and expanded. Embracing challenges in a new role is not easy but essential for personal and professional growth. With the right mindset, a commitment to learning, and effective communication, I not only successfully navigated these challenges but also thrived in my new role.
