EMC Celebrates World Wildlife Day 2024
On March 3, 2024, EMC participated in the Wildlife Fair at the Guyana Zoological Park to World Wildlife Day. The event was organized by the Guyana Wildlife Conservation and Management Commission in partnership with the Protected Areas Commission, under the theme “Connecting People and Planet: Exploring Digital Innovation in Wildlife Conservation.”
This year’s theme aligns with EMC’s mission to integrate technology into its strategies to safeguard Guyana’s biodiversity. EMC has demonstrated how technology can significantly improve wildlife conservation through initiatives such as camera trap monitoring, drone aerial surveillance, and turtle telemetry.
Visitors to the EMC booth were treated to exciting and interactive experiences, including camera trap photography and video, a biodiversity-themed scavenger hunt, and a “guess the sound of the animal” game. Winning participants received EMC publications to further enhance their knowledge of and connection to Guyana’s environment.
The Wildlife Fair brought together conservations to share knowledge and strategies for protecting wildlife. The EMC team enthusiastically shared their achievements and insights to raise awareness and encourage collective action in wildlife conservation.
