EMC Inc. and GMCS Sign MoU to Collaborate on Conservation Efforts

Environmental Management Consultants (EMC Inc.) and the Guyana Marine Conservation Society (GMCS) on March 3, 2021, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on conservation efforts on the coastal and marine environment.

The MoU brings together EMC’s wealth of experience and expertise in providing environmental services and promoting green growth and GMCS’s expertise in protecting marine and coastal species and their habitats. According to EMC’s Managing Director, Mr. Shyam Nokta, “This agreement formalizes a 20 plus year cooperation and a shared aspiration to protect Guyana’s ecosystems and rich biodiversity through activities aimed at awareness-raising, studies and assessment and supporting livelihood initiatives.”

Natural Resources Minister Mr. Vickram Bharrat and representatives from the Protected Areas Commission, Environmental Protection Agency, Coast Guard, Conservation International, and Iwokrama International Centre, among other guests, were in attendance.
