Environmental & Social Impact Assessments

An Environmental & Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) is a comprehensive study that identifies, predicts, and evaluates the potential environmental and social impacts, both positive and negative, of a proposed project before it is carried out.

These assessments consider a wide range of factors, including air and water quality, biodiversity, land use, and cultural heritage, as well as socioeconomic aspects such as livelihoods, health, safety, and community well-being, and involve stakeholder engagements to ensure transparency, address concerns, and foster community trust.

EMC’s multidisciplinary approach ensures every ESIA we deliver is rigorous, regulator-compliant, and designed to foster smooth approval processes while promoting sustainable project outcomes that are socially and environmentally responsible.

The requirements for ESIAs are driven by environmental and social safeguards of public and multi-national companies, donor organisations, or to comply with national requirements for environmental authorization as set out in the Environmental Protection Act 1996 and the EPA’s EIA Guidelines.
